The HSU MultiCultural Center will present the 24th Annual Social Justice Summit on March 2rd and 3th, 2018. Our stories are power sites for understanding and building relationships. In the era of our current world we need to understand how we arrived here because how we remember the past, defines our present, and molds our future. We are thousands of years of resistance from oppression, from the silencing power of domination.

Throughout history we have become disconnected from our story, our people, and the earth around us. We live in a time where we are forced to sell our bodies to live, a time where our identities give us access to power but strip us of our voice. Our vision for this year’s Social Justice Summit was to highlight tools for non-violent expressions. The theme ‘Who Am I? Back to Our Roots’ seeks to provide tools for effective advocacy, finding ourself in this time of commodified bodies, and active ways to change the world around us through the words we use.

In recent times humanity has been tested with cracks in our global world. Words are tools that have shaped the world around us. We have become divided through the labels, borders, and walls we have built. The Summit aspires to provide tools for emotional, artful expression, tools to shape voices for change.
